Allen B. Coffin

Allen B. Coffin was a man who went by many names: Al, Big Al, Alco, Bud, and Big Matt just to name a few. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, brother, and friend to all who knew him. But he was also a guardian angel to many who didn’t. Al was born in Milford, MA, the son of the late Robert Coffin who died in 2016, and Alice (Berry) Coffin. He was the husband of Kelley Leonard-Coffin.  He died peacefully on Saturday, November 20, 2021, with his family by his side.

A man of many passions, he worked as a master auto-technician for Honda for over thirty years. He loved the outdoors, the sky, and anything with a motor. Al loved going out on his boat, snowmobile, or motorcycle. There was never a time he wasn’t ready for an adventure, and his greatest passion of all was sharing the things he loved with his family and friends.

Al was never one to ask for help, but he was always there when someone needed it. He often volunteered for his son Matthew’s Boy Scout troop. Whether it was a friend, someone on the side of the road, or a stranger at the dirt bike track he offered a lending hand.

Al leaves behind his wife of 21 years, Kelley; his mother, Alice Coffin of Upton; his two sons, Matthew Coffin and Sean Leonard of Dudley; and his sister Barbara Mangano and her husband William, of Hopedale. He was also the proud uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 PM, on Sunday November 28, in the Pickering & Son Funeral Home. 

His funeral service will be held at 10AM on Monday, November 29, in the United Parish of Upton Church, 1 Church St., Upton. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.

Facial coverings are requested to be worn in the funeral home and the church.
