Jacqueline Nelson Obituary

Jackie M. Nelson, passed away November 12, 2020 at home where she loved to be. Jackie was born on October 21, 1940 to Edward and Pearl (McLaughlin) Brown in Calais, ME.  She left Grand Lake Stream after marrying Duane Nelson in 1964 and resided in Mendon, MA.  She kept her fond memories of GLS alive by visiting frequently then eventually spending her summers there and winters in Mendon.

Throughout her life, Jackie worked at several places, Just A Wee Day School, Mendon Post Office, The Loft and the Mendon Country Gift Barn but most importantly she was a wife, mom, grandmother and amazing friend.  She also volunteered at numerous places, the Unitarian Church, the Co-Op, Meals on Wheels, Paws Braveheart in Calais, ME and the GLS Historical Museum, Grand Lake Stream, ME.

Jackie was a huge fan of watching all four of her grandchildren play hockey.  She also loved walking Middle Walk, going to the bottom of the fish hatchery, sitting on her “porches”, watching the birds, sewing, reading books, watching the Red Sox and doing puzzles.  She always had to put the last piece in the puzzle or else!

In addition to her parents, Jackie was predeceased by many aunts and uncles.  She will be remembered and missed dearly by her husband Duane, sister Jane and 4 daughters, Armina, Vonda and husband Mitchel, Brianna,  Luana and husband Jim,  dear friend Pam, her son Erik and his wife Catherine and their two sons, Bryan and Scot, twin daughter Darna & boyfriend Eric Brownstein AKA Chris and her children Axel and Rayne Brown, twin daughter Inga & fiance Erik Stromland. Also, Aunt Joyce Brown and Aunt Rita McLaughlin; numerous cousins and many special friends including but not limited to Shirley P., Diane G., Gloria, Kenny & Karen Sprague, Melissa Susie and her best buddy Rova.

In keeping with Jackie’s wishes there will be no services.  She will rest in Mendon until we can bring her home.
