Marion R. Despres

UPTON- Marion R. Despres, 78, of Upton, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Louis P. Despres to whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage this past February.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late William and Marion (McCarthy) Roche. She was raised and educated in Upton and attended St. Mary’s School in Milford. She graduated from Leo’s Beauty Institute in Worcester.

Marion was a self-employed hairdresser in Upton for many years.

She was a communicant of Holy Angels Parish and St. Gabriel’s Parish in Upton and was the former director of Holy Angels Children’s Choir, sang in the Folk Group and was a leader with the church’s Youth Group. She also volunteered with the Upton Bloomer Girls and was a member of the Westborough Players Club.

In addition to her husband she is survived by five children, Patrick J. Despres and his partner, Talena, of Long Beach, CA, Andrew P. Despres and his partner, Elizabeth, of Folsom, CA, Leonora Towle of Auburn, MA, Glen Despres of Upton and Whitney Marsala and her husband, Daniel, of Pomfret, CT; her siblings, Mary Fedorczuk, Mildred Galeone, Patrick Roche, Kathleen Schultz, Dorothy O’Neil and Edward Roche; two grandchildren, Zoe and Tyler Towle and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother William Roche.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Wednesday, July 28, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home, 45 Main St., Upton. Interment will be private.

The family requests that facial masks be worn during the calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Upton Bloomer Girls.
