Charlotte E. Stuart

Charlotte E. (Paine) Stuart, 98, a longtime Upton resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.  She was the wife of the late Robert M. Stuart.

Born in Walden, VT on April 30, 1921, she was a daughter of the late George and Charlotte (Burnham) Paine.

Prior to retirement, Mrs. Stuart was employed as a straw operator at Kartiganer's Hat Company and as an assembler at Waters in Milford.

Charlotte was an Eastern Star member for 79 years, a longtime member of the United Parish of Upton Church, and a member of the Legion Auxiliary.  She enjoyed her hobbies of oil painting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, braiding rugs, playing cards, board games, jigsaw puzzles, and especially bowling in which her 95th birthday was at a bowling alley.

Mrs. Stuart is survived by her three daughters, Ida Jette of Upton, Helen Wood of Upton, and Sandra Kent of Andover, CT; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her ten siblings that she grew up with in Vermont.

Her memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, May 20, in the United Parish of Upton Church, 1 Church Street, Upton. 

Burial will be held privately in Lakeview Cemetery at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, Inc. of Upton.
