Timothy Hoey Obituary

Timothy B. Hoey, 65, of Upton and formerly of Natick, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 3, 2019, at his home surrounded by the love of friends, family and fittingly in the arms of the love of his life, Renee McCarthy.

Born in Framingham, he was a son of the late George and Rose (Bashford) Hoey.  He was raised and educated in Natick and was a graduate of Natick High School class of 1972 and a graduate of Framingham State University class of 1976.

During his time at Framingham State University, he acted as the soccer goalie for the championship team and served as the secretary of the Zaida Zaida Waihoo Fraternity after writing its charter to have it officially recognized as an FSU fraternity.  Zaida Zaida Waihoo raised money for numerous charities including Big Brother Big Sister.

Tim had a hobby for DJing in which he started doing in the late 70s.  He worked at clubs such as: Chevys, City Club, T.J.s, and Nobscots.  He also volunteered his time DJing for charities such as, Toys for Tots, Leukemia, and Greg Kelly Memorial Golf Tournament.

Mr. Hoey was truly a selfless friend to all who would always have a smile on his face, would always be enthusiastic, a zest for life, an infectiously positive attitude, and was a best friend to everyone who knew him.  He will always be known for his famous happy dance.

Tim loved everything about Christmas.  He enjoyed Christmas lights and was meticulous about decorative.  In recent years, he was famous for lighting the TLC Daycare in Hopkinton.

He enjoyed golfing with his friends, skiing, playing softball, watching a great lightning storm, tinkering and learning how to fix things, watching fireworks, playing pool and darts with friends, drinking Budweiser, and watching the Bruins, Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics.  He especially had a passion for watching the Boston Bruins with the “#FireBallGang”.

Tim was very proud to be an American and would constantly say, “We can do anything, we’re Americans.”

Throughout his seven-year battle with cancer, he could be heard saying with his positive attitude, “It is what it is, lets buckle up and go for the ride.”

In addition to the love of his life, Renee, he is survived by his sister, Joanne MacConnell of Ossipee, NH; three nephews, Randall Fisher of Ayer, Wayne Fisher of Billerica, and Kevin MacConnell of Hyannis; three nieces, Marianne LaPlante of Hillsboro, NH, and Pamela Harty of Bensalem, PA; three cousins, Nancy Brown of Framingham, Helene Harrington of Southborough, and Lucille Braithwaite of Palmyra, VA; and hundreds of friends who will forever be better people for having had him in their lives.

He is predeceased by his siblings, Nancy Hoey and Jack Fisher, and by Renee’s daughter, Marie McCarthy.

His funeral service will be held at 11 AM, on Friday, June 7, in the United Parish of Upton Church, 1 Church Street. Upton.  Burial will be held privately at a later date.

Calling hours are from 3 to 7 PM on Thursday, June 6, in the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, Inc. 45 Main Street, Upton.  Friends and family are asked to wear their Bruins gear or any other Boston sports team gear to his calling hours.
