Alice M. Coffin, 83, of Upton, MA passed peacefully on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 after a long battle with Lymphoma cancer.
Alice was born in Stockton, MO, the daughter of the late Wiley and Ova (Bishop) Berry and was the youngest of nine siblings. She resided there until the tragic death of both parents in a car accident when she was 14. She moved to Upton, MA, to live with family, graduated from Northbridge High School and Ollis Beauty Academy. She met and married the love of her live for 54 years, Robert T. Coffin, and continued to raise a family and reside in Upton until her passing. She worked as a hair dresser, became a homemaker while raising her family and re-entered the workforce in customer service and specialty cable manufacturing at Data General, In-Stock and FourStar Connections, retiring in 2008. She was a member of the United Parish of Upton and the Upton Bloomer Girls and played Upton Women’s Volleyball. Alice’s most cherished times were spent with family and friends. She also enjoyed church activities, camping, sewing, baking, crafting, gardening/preserving foods, bird watching, playing games, walks, Upton Senior Center activities and reading the Word of God and praying for others.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Robert T. Coffin, in 2016 and son, Allen B. Coffin, in 2021 as well as her siblings Mildred Kennon, Marie Criasia, Archie Berry, Ira Berry, Clyde (Red) Berry, Lewis Berry, Robert (Bobby) Berry and Priscilla Conrad. She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Coffin) Mangano and husband William, her grandson John Mangano and wife Kylie, grandson Sean Leonard and wife Brianna, grandson Matthew Coffin, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and dear friends.
Graveside services will be private at Lakeview Cemetery, Upton, at the discretion of the family.
