Barbara E. (Jones) Rose

October 31, 1942 — November 2, 2015

Barbara E. (Jones) Rose, 73, of Yulee, FL and formerly of Lexington, Newton, Needham, Dover, and Holden, MA, died Monday, November 2, 2015 in Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL after a period of declining health. Her beloved husband of 48 years, John D. Rose, died in 2012.

Barbara was born in Arlington, MA, a daughter of the late Earl and Eileen (Vaughan) Jones. She received her diploma from Lexington High School in 1960. In 1964, she completed a Dental Assistant Program at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Barbara attended New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Boston and graduated from Newton-Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing in Newton, MA in 1969. She was a registered nurse for more than 40 years, who worked in hospitals, private duty nursing, a private girl's school, and The Natick Visiting Nurses Association in Natick, MA for 20 years. She moved with her family to Florida in 2009.

She leaves one daughter, Robin Bogosh and her husband Christopher of Yulee; a son, Jay Rose and his wife Karem of Waltham, MA; one sister, Nancy Wilga and her husband Peter of Franklin, MA; three grandchildren, Kayla and Amber Rose of Falmouth, ME and Noah Bogosh of Yulee; a nephew, Craig Wilga and his wife DarylAnne of Douglas, MA; a niece, Christi Wilga of Attleboro, MA; and a grandnephew, Zachary Wilga of Douglas. She was also the sister of the late Susan Batstone of Lexington, MA.

Barbara was known for her loving and generous spirit. In addition to being a nurse, she was a devoted wife who worked hard alongside her husband in their family business, as well as being a Girl Scout leader, hockey mom, and a loving grandmother. Barbara was a devoted caregiver, giving of herself to others and kept nothing for herself. She encouraged everyone she came in contact with to be the best that they could be and was willing to help anyone at any time. Barbara loved to be with people and never missed an opportunity to do so. She loved to cook, listen to music, and loved her pets, so much so that she was an advocate for homeless animals. Barbara was strong in her faith and never doubted God's promises.

Service Details

Private graveside services will be held in the Jones family lot at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Harwich Port, MA at the convenience of the family.
