Charles T. “Charlie” Cummings, 84, of Upton, passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia, on Thursday, February 5, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Mary (McGann) Cummings.

Charlie was born in Newton on April 17, 1941, son of late Margaret and Leo Cummings, and was raised and educated in Newton.

In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Sweeney and her husband, Thomas Sweeney, of Upton, and Maureen Cummings of Newton; two granddaughters, Lillian Sweeney and Daphne Sweeney; and all of his cherished grand-furbabies.

After serving in the United States Air Force, he spent most of his career as an HVAC service manager at Accutemp Engineering.

He could often be found relaxing on the couch, cheering on the Bruins, watching NASCAR, following the Atlanta Braves or enjoying the sunshine out on the deck. Charlie also loved traveling to the Caribbean with his wife.

He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Hapenney.

Charlie’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of his caregivers, especially Carlos and Shelley.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 12, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 151 Mendon Street, Upton. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Upton.

There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to the Upton Fire & EMS Association Ambulance Fund, P.O Box 1012, Upton, MA 01568.
