George A. Klink

George A. Klink, 83, formerly of Upton, died Thursday, September 11, 2014, in the Odd Fellows Home in Worcester after a period of declining health. His wife of 60 years, Rose S. (Altrath) Klink, died in April.

George was born in Hillside, NJ, a son of the late George J. and Teresa (Loew) Klink. He attended Hillside High School, Rutgers University, and Quinsigamond Community College, and served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He came to Upton from NJ in 1971 and worked a variety of jobs, retiring as a security guard at Digital Equipment Corp. in 1991.

A history buff, George organized and led the Upton Colonial Militia and the 16th Mass. Line Regiment in bicentennial activities and participated in encampments and re-enactments throughout the east coast from Canada to Virginia. He served the Town of Upton on its Bicentennial Committee, Library Board of Trustees, Finance Committee, Conservation Commission, Planning Board, and as a delegate to the Regional Planning Commission. He coached Upton Little League for many years and was also a member of the Republican Town Committee and a popular patron of the Grafton Flea Market.

He leaves two daughters, Karen Grazulis and her husband Stanley of Webster, and Christine Pilling and her husband Thomas of Spencer; a godson, Joseph Poirier and his wife Kerry of Upton; a brother, Jeffrey Klink of FL; two sisters, Audrey Bossard of NJ and Judith Lintz of NY; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Service Details

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 17, at 11 a.m.
in the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton.

Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery
with a reception to follow at the Upton VFW.

A calling hour at the funeral home will be from 10 to 11 a.m.
prior to the funeral service on Wednesday.
