Gerald J. Lavergne, 81, of Upton, died Monday, November 16, 2015 in U Mass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester just days after being stricken ill. He was the husband of Elizabeth E. (Akeley) Lavergne.
Mr. Lavergne was born in Milford, the son of the late Gerard J. and Caroline M. (Smith) Lavergne. He was a U. S. Army veteran who served in the Army of Occupation of Germany and worked as a machine operator at Micro Group in Medway for 30 years, retiring in 2009. A member of the George L. Wood VFW Post in Upton, he loved the outdoors and animals, and especially enjoyed kayaking, hiking, and snowshoeing.
In addition to his wife of 24 years, he leaves three daughters, Linda Lavergne of Worcester, Patricia Gartin of Grafton, and Sherry Latino of Sutton; a sister, Claire LaBrie of Holland; and a grandson, Scott Kennedy of Upton. He also leaves two stepdaughters, Theresa Murphy of Worcester and Heather Havalotti of Northbridge; a stepson, James Carroll of Northbridge; and many stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren. Another stepdaughter, Cynthia Swift, died in September.

Funeral services with military honors
will be Friday, November 20, at 4 p.m.
in the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton,
followed by cremation.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 2 to 4 p.m.
