James W. Cote

James W. Cote, 85, of Grafton and formerly of Upton, died peacefully at his home in the presence of his family on Saturday, March 11, 2017 after an illness.

Jim was born in Shrewsbury, a son of the late Wilfrid and Marie (Lavoie) Cote. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and the owner of Blackstone Valley Survey & Engineering. He worked as a land surveyor throughout the area for 45 years. Jim was a jack of all trades and especially enjoyed woodworking. One of his greatest pleasures was helping people. He was ever ready to lend a helping hand and has been known to give the shirt off his back. He was also known for his love of animals, and was seldom seen without one of them by his side.

A loving and beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, he leaves three children, James E. Cote and his wife Roberta of Valrico, FL, Lee J. Cote of Upton, and Robin M. Allen of Grafton; his former wife, Rose (Morrison) Cote of Holliston; a brother, William Cote of NY; two sisters, Cecile Tod of Rutland and Patricia Loughlin of Sutton; three grandchildren, Jesse and Jeffrey Cote of FL and Nelson Allen of Grafton; a great-grandson Beau Cote of FL; many nieces and nephews, and his beloved Jenny. He was predeceased by his brother John and sisters Helen and Marjorie.

Service Details

Following cremation, a celebration of his life will be held
in the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton
at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2017.
