James F. Jango

James F. Jango, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2025, at UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester, MA, after a heart attack on December 22, 2025.

He was the son of the late William and Cecelia (Connors) Jango. He was born and raised in Boston, MA. Shortly after graduating from Brighton High School in 1955, Jim joined the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Santa Ana, CA. He served honorably for two years and returned to MA after his discharge in 1958. Jim settled in Weymouth, MA, where he lived for 64 years and raised three children.

Jim was employed by the US Postal Service in Weymouth, MA, where he served as a clerk. After retirement, he served as a substitute Crossing Guard for Weymouth Public Schools for a time and as a driver for the South Shore Hospital for almost ten years.

Jim enjoyed working out at the gym and running. He ran the Ocean State Marathon in Newport at age 45, finishing in 3:34:15. In his later independent years, Jim spent every morning at Ma Reilly’s Cafe in Weymouth, where he enjoyed good food and the company of the owner and servers, sharing his philosophy on life. He held dear the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Jim was intentional in making lasting memories, taking them on special trips across the country. Tom and his wife had the very special privilege of caring for him in their home the last years of his life.

Jim is survived by his son, Tom Jango, and his wife, Tanna, of Upton; his grandchildren, Diane Rizzitano, of Florida, Danielle Miller and her husband, Dylan, of Iowa, John Jango and his wife, Danielle, of Upton, Karlie Jango, of California, Michael Jango and Mark Jango of Iowa and his great-granddaughter, Aria Cristello, of Florida.

He was predeceased by two of his children, Robert Jango and Donna Jango Chiocca.

Burial with military honors in North Cemetery, Upton, will take place privately with his family.
