Jeannette H. Davis

April 4, 1928 — May 28, 2022

UPTON

Jeannette H. Davis, age 94, of Upton, Ma. and formerly of Bourne, Newton, and North Andover, passed away peacefully on May 28th, 2022, surrounded by her family at home.  She was the beloved wife of the late Leslie Newell Davis, Jr. who died in 2012. She was born in Lawrence, Ma. on April 4th, 1928. She was a daughter of the late George and Charlotte (Perley) Rea.  She was raised and educated in North Andover, Ma. She received her B.A. from Simmons College in Boston in 1949. Prior to retirement and moving to the Cape with her husband, Jeannette was employed as a lab technician and then became the research librarian for Albany International Research Company. She worked for this company for 50 years.

Jeannette was fond of taking walks around the neighborhood, in the woods, on the beach, and anywhere in nature. She delighted in watching the birds and other critters that would visit her bird feeder. She also enjoyed drawing and painting and was a talented artist. She loved animals, especially her little dog Ginger who passed away a few years ago but her favorite animal was a horse and they were often the subject of her artwork. She was a proud grandma to her grandson, Jarrett and appreciated being a part of his life. She could get consumed with putting jigsaw puzzles together. She took pleasure in her yoga and Tai Chi classes at the Senior center prior to the pandemic.  She enjoyed playing golf, especially with her friends on the Cape and was quite active until the beginning of this year. She began attending UUSGU, the Unitarian Church in Grafton, in 2012 and valued the friendships she developed in that community. She cherished all her caregivers too.

She is survived by her daughters, Sherie Davis and her husband Mark Alciati, of Santa Barbara, CA, and Jennifer Davis and her husband Bob Nicoll, of Upton; her grandson, Jarrett Nicoll of Upton; her brother, Warren Rea of Concord; and her nieces, Nancy and Carolyn and her nephew, Bill AKA Tex. She is predeceased by her siblings, W. Perley Rea and Doris Malkiel.

Her graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4th in Lakeview Cemetery, North Main Street, Upton. To get to the grave site, pull in the main entrance, go straight and proceed up a little hill, pass by Maple Ave and take your next left onto Oak Ave. Go down the hill and the site is on your right before you reach the pond. Please feel free to bring a lawn chair.

Everyone is invited to a potluck reception on the back patio of the family home in Upton immediately following the service to celebrate Jeannette’s life.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to Baypath Humane Society www.baypathhumane.org.

The Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the Davis family with arrangements.
