Millard M. "Chip" Taft III, 64, of Whitinsville and formerly of Upton, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025, his favorite holiday, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Janet (Whitney) Taft.
Born in Worcester, Chip was the son of the late Millard Jr. and Helen (Barnes) Taft. He was raised and educated in Upton and was a graduate of Nipmuc Regional High School.
A skilled carpenter, Chip worked in all areas of the trade throughout his career.
He was a devoted NASCAR fan, especially of the Daytona 500, and loved golfing in a league, fishing, and cheering on Boston sports teams. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife Janet, Chip is survived by his sister, Barbara Elkind and her husband Fred of Nashua, NH, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends.
He was predeceased by his sister, Beverly Myers.
Services will be held privately with his family.
