Richard H. Humes, 86, of Upton, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016 in the University of MA Memorial Medical Center in Worcester after a brief illness. His wife of 27 years, Nancy (Taft) Humes, died in 1997.
Mr. Humes was born in Worcester, a son of the late Ralph and Gertrude (Young) Humes. A graduate of local schools and an Army veteran of the Korean War, he lived in Upton most of his life. He retired from the U. S. Postal Service in Westborough many years ago.
Dick was a member and former deacon of the United Parish of Upton, a member of the Upton Historical Society, and had been a Boy Scout leader.
He leaves one son, Scott R. Humes of No. Bennington, VT; a stepson, Dudley Hickory of Phoenix, AZ; and two granddaughters, Jennifer and Sarah. He was also the brother of the late Robert and Beverly Humes and stepfather of the late William "Butch" Hickory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the food pantry at the United Parish of Upton, Box 382, Upton, MA 01568.

in Lakeview Cemetery, North Main Street, Upton.
