Richard K. Mead, Jr.

Richard Kenneth Mead Jr, affectionately known as Rick, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents and his sister. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn; his two sons; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his brother David, who will carry his memory forward.

He and Carolyn were married in 1968 and shared many wonderful years together in California and Oregon.

In 2024 Rick and Carolyn made the hard decision to leave many wonderful friends in Oregon and move to Massachusetts to be closer to their east coast family. They made the Highlands in Westborough their new home. It was there that Rick spent his final years surrounded by the comfort of home, family and many new friends.

Rick will be remembered for loving his family and his passion for trains and Legos. He was blessed with the many memories he created with all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Though Rick will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with his parents and sister and resting with the Lord.

Until we meet again, you will be forever loved and remembered.

On Wednesday, August 19th a brief public service will be held at Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home, located at 45 Main Street, Upton, MA 01568.

Family greeting will be held from 3:30-4:00pm and a memorial service from 4:00-4:30pm.
