Barbara H. Smith

Barbara H. Smith, 96, of Upton, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022, at the Milford Regional Medical Center.  She was the beloved wife to the late Ralph Smith.

Born in Lyndonville, VT, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Leota (Heflin) Wheeler.  She was raised and educated in South Grafton.

Prior to retirement, Mrs. Smith was employed as a weaver, waitress, customer service representative, and assembly worker at various places.

She loved to sing, enjoyed needle point work such as knitting and crocheting, spending time with family and friends, and cherished being with her dog Tippy, and numerous cats throughout the years.  She also attended the South Grafton Congregational Church where she sang in the choir.

Barbara is survived by her children, David Obara and his wife Sharon, of Millbury, Michael Obara and his wife Victoria, of Leominster, and Carl Obara and his wife Laura, of Charlton, her stepchildren, David Smith of Los Angeles, CA, and Robert Smith of Northbridge, seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.  She is predeceased by her siblings.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, November 29, in the Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home, 45 Main St. Upton.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, South Grafton.

A calling hour will precede the funeral service from 10 to 11 AM in the funeral home.
