Daniel P. “Dan” Matthews, formerly of Upton, died Thursday, November 3, 2022, in Stuart, Fl. He was 69 years old.

Dan leaves behind his wife, Robin (nee Handfield) of Stuart, FL, three children Amy Jimmis of Coventry, RI, Tracy Cunningham (Jim) of Oakwood, OH, and James Matthews (Lindsay) of Brugelette, Belgium, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind three sisters Charlotte McMahon (Robert) of Auburn, MA, Maryclaire Quine (Douglas) of Bethel, CT, and Anne-Marie McCarthy (Joseph) of Raleigh, NC.

Dan was preceded in death by his father Gerard Matthews and mother Charlotte Orff, his three brothers Gerard Matthews Jr., James Matthews, and Michael Matthews.

Dan was a lifelong pioneer in both private and public sectors, focusing on development and application of information technology capabilities and infrastructure. Dan was an avid motorcyclist, golfer, and racquetball player.

A private burial in Maplewood Cemetery, Upton, will be held at a later date.
