Michael J. Kozel

Michael J. Kozel, 67, of Upton, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at home.

Born in Worcester, he is the son of Thomas Kozel of Gardiner, Maine and the late Gloria (Letourneau) Kozel. He was raised and educated in Upton and was a member of Troop 132 where he became an Eagle Scout. He was a graduate of Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational High School and of Nichols College.

Michael was employed as a Hardware Design Engineer for Data General prior to his retirement where he made eight patents, he enjoyed playing golf, and tending to his wood pile.

In addition to his father he is survived by six children, Jason Carriere of Upton, Jessica Lemist of Wrentham, James Kozel of Upton, Justin Kozel of Warwick, RI, Jane Kozel of Milford and Jennifer Kozel of Upton; one sister, Linda Paige of Gardiner, Maine and two grandchildren, Kaley and Matthew.

He was predeceased by a son, Joseph Kozel and a brother, Robert Kozel.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, February 24, from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home, 45 Main St., Upton.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 25, at 10:00 A.M. in Lakeview Cemetery, Upton.
