Robert H. MacDonald

Robert H. MacDonald, 77, of Upton, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023, at the UMass Medical Center after a brief illness.  He was the beloved husband of 38 years to Mary (McAllister) MacDonald.

Robert, also affectionally known as “Bob” or “Sonny” was born on November 3, 1945, and raised and educated in Framingham.  He was a son of the late Robert Sr. and Loma (Walton) MacDonald.

Prior to retirement, he worked at General Motors in Framingham for 30 years within several maintenance engineering capacities.  He then worked for the Mendon-Upton School District at Memorial School in Upton, until he retired three years ago.

Robert’s interests included motorcycling, classic cars, hunting and fishing.  He especially enjoyed conversing with his “donut shop” friends every Sunday morning.  He and his wife, Mary, enjoyed vacationing in Maine and South Carolina.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Dorine Beliveau and her husband Ed of Nashua, NH; His brothers-in-Law David McAllister of Plymouth, MA, John McAllister of Pooler, GA and Daniel McAllister and his wife, Cynthia, of Kingston, MA.  He also leaves several cousins, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

He is predeceased by a brother, Irving Larkin.

His funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, November 9, in the Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home, 45 Main St. Upton.  Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Upton.

Calling hours are from 11 AM to 1 PM in the funeral home prior to the service.
