William D. Allen

William D. Allen, 75, of Denmark, ME, and formerly of Upton, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester, VT, surrounded by his family.  He was the beloved husband of the late Pamela (Craib) Allen, who died in 2015.

Born in Indiana, PA, he was a son of the late George and Elizabeth (Sails) Allen and was raised and educated in Milford MA.

Mr. Allen proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War obtaining the rank of Specialist 5 serving with the 101st Airborne overseas and the 82nd Airborne stateside.

Prior to retirement, William was employed as a Blaster for various drilling and blasting firms in the greater Boston area leading job across New England.

He enjoyed the outdoors including hiking, skiing, hunting and enjoying his time at his log cabin in Denmark ME. Bill volunteered for the Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation Program at Sunday River and helped people with disabilities the opportunity to alpine ski. Bill also dedicated his time to the Upton Boy Scouts Troop 132 while his Son’s were active there. 

He is survived by his two sons, Jeff Allen and his wife Vanessa Ramirez-Allen of Dallas, TX, and Jon Allen and his wife Amy of Burlington VT; his grandchildren, Killian and Darcy and his siblings, Robert Allen (Linda), Sharon Anderson (Dennis), Steven Allen (Mary) and Brad Allen (Cathy).

His funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, July 22nd in the United Parish of Upton Church, 1 Church St. Upton, MA.  Burial, with military honors, will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Upton, MA.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation Program at Sunday River or the Allen/Cole Scholarship at Norwich University.
