Barbara L. (Francis) Allen, 84, a lifelong Upton resident, died early Wednesday, June 8, 2011, in St. Camillus Health Center in Northbridge after a period of declining health. Her husband of 62 years, John H. Allen, died in 2006.
Mrs. Allen was born in Milford, the youngest and last surviving of ten children of William J. and Florence E. (Sellon) Francis. A graduate of Upton High School, she worked as a human resource secretary for Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville for 40 years, retiring many years ago.
She leaves one daughter, Paula and her husband Jim David Turner of Upton; three grandchildren, Galen Murray of Concord, NC, Melissa Mazzella of Warwick, NY, and Lucas Ponce of Cranston, RI; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Thomas, Arthur, Charles, Orrin, William, Herbert, and Harold Francis, Harriet Jurentkuff, and Irma Prentiss.
If desired, memorial donations may be made to the George L. Wood VFW Post, Box 472; to the Upton Ambulance Fund, Box 29, both Upton, MA 01568; or to the charity of one's choice.

Private graveside services will be held in Lakeview Cemetery in Uptonat the convenience of the family.
